New BIOS revisions and battery life issues
New BIOS revisions and battery life issues
Hey, so I posted about the battery life being worse post v1.04 BIOS issue over at lenovoblogs.com and David Hill said he sent it over to engineering for them to look at the problem! I hope they fix it or give us a way to address it via a setting, but in the meantime, there's hope!
If people here with the issue have figured out any additional information, post the details here! My X60 draws a ridiculous number of watts while idling compared to what others are quoting...somewhere around 13-14W.

My X60s also draws around 12-13 W with WiFi on, ThinkPad default power setting, Firefox and IE7 open with some episodic background process disk activity, and screen brightness =3. Draws 11-13 W at Max Battery setting, with brightness =3.rkuo wrote: My X60 draws a ridiculous number of watts while idling compared to what others are quoting...somewhere around 13-14W.
I have bios 1.06. Will power use get worse with 1.10?

Maybe people who are having the problem should post there just to let them know it's real.
I read some other threads here where people say they run around 8-10W idling on v1.04 of the BIOS.
Re: New BIOS revisions and battery life issues
I am using BIOS 1.10 and I am getting 12-13W idle with Office applications and Wifi ON, with everything OFF and the display fully dimmed I get 7-8W, I got yesterday between 9 to 10 hours of FULL IDLE, I mean no work at all, just the laptop ON, really AMAZING!!!!rkuo wrote:Hey, so I posted about the battery life being worse post v1.04 BIOS issue over at lenovoblogs.com and David Hill said he sent it over to engineering for them to look at the problem! I am using BIOS version 1.10 and my battery shows 6.93 watts and 9 hours plus until discharge? I haven't really noticed any problems with any of the BIOS versions I have used. Is anyone else using 1.10 and getting good battery life? This is with all wireless turned on and not really doing anything. Am I testing it in a different way than others?

I have 1.10 bios and still get 7-8 hours on the 8-cell with wifi on, using max battery power scheme.
The condition & age of your battery, its proper calibration and maintenance are huge factors in battery performance... way more than the processor voltage (obviously screen size & brightness is a much greater factor).
