Is my X30 overheating with the Hitachi 60GB HDD?
Is my X30 overheating with the Hitachi 60GB HDD?
I've had the 60GB HDD in my X30 for a couple of months now and I've noticed that if I power down the laptop and try boot up immediately afterwards that it won't boot. Nothing happens. I have to wait a couple of minutes and then it will boot.
Is this some sort of thermal protection cutting in? Is there any utility out there that I can check what the temperatures on the MB are?
And does this happen to anyone else? Everything seems to work fine otherwise.

Mobile Meter, also shows you the HDD temp:CyberDude wrote:Is this some sort of thermal protection cutting in? Is there any utility out there that I can check what the temperatures on the MB are?

Thanks. MM is showing my HDD temp at 46C and CPU at 57C both which I would hardly call hot. So can anyone explain why my X30 will not power up immediately after shutting down. Pressing the power button has no effect as though there is some thermal trip preventing the TP to power up.
How do these figures compare with others?

If it were seconds, I could have put it to electrical issues (capacitors etc), but minutes I don't know..CyberDude wrote:Thanks. It can take up to a couple of minutes sometimes. If I lift the B and blow air under the HD / Processor ara then it starts quicker which really points to the problem being a thermal one.
I'll put back the old HDD as see if the problem dissappears.
