Vista upgrade, no 64 bit?
Do you think if I wait longer the free vista upgrade will include the 64 bit version or is the 32 bit all we're gonna get (I have XP pro).

You need to have a 64-bit CPU to use 64-bit windows.
I think T60's only have 32-bit CPU's.

That was true til very recently when they upgraded their processors to Core 2 Duos from the Core Duos. I would recommend sticking with 32 bit Windows anyways, since driver support is better, and unless you are running heavy computing 64bit apps or need the memory address space (not a real issue on the T60), you stick with 32bit anyways.ALENOVOTECH wrote:I will be quiet now.

Considering you have XP Pro, this corresponds to an upgrade to Vista Business, then your answer is yes, you will receive a 64 bit version of windows. Whether it will be possible to actually run 64 bit Vista on there is another topic that has been discussed as some people have argued that while the CPU may be 64-bit capable, the chipsets may not be. Considering that own6volvos is currently running 64 bit versions of linux, this argument may be moot since 64 bit software clearly runs on new Core 2 Duo-based thinkpads. All editions of Windows Vista will ship on the same DVD. It is the license key purchased that determines which version will be installed. After the product key is entered, the user will choose whether to install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of that edition (except for Starter edition). The features of the Home Premium and Ultimate editions may be "unlocked" at any time by purchasing a one-time upgrade license through a Control Panel tool called Windows Anytime Upgrade. The Business edition will also be upgradable to Ultimate. Such licenses will be sold by Microsoft's partners and OEMs, but not directly by Microsoft.
