I think, if you remove Rescue and Recovery with add/remove programs you will get rid of the request for logmon.exe on startup.
To be safe, download the Rescue and Recovery installation files first from the Lenovo Support Download site and save it to your hard drive. Then, if you want it back, or if my suggestion doesn't work, you can reinstall the most up to date Rescue and Recovery.

Logmon.exe removal
Thanks for the suggestion, barrywohl. If I remove Rescue and Recovery won't I also lose the functions I get with the ThinkVantage button, such as a simple way to search for wireless networks in range? Of course, I could do the same thing with Control Panel.... Now that I think about it, I don't really use any of the R&R functions; I use Acronis TrueImage for backups, etc. I appreciate the idea -- I'll give it a try.

Logmon Removal
Well, removing Rescue and Recovery seems to have worked: the machine runs normally and Windows doesn't ask for logmon any more. I downloaded v4.2 of R&R, so I have that in the wings in case I need it. Meanwhile, other ThinkVantage functions appear intact. Many thanks for the suggestions!
You are welcome! It worked for me too.
I used to think that one of the main advantages of ThinkPads was the IBM (now Lenovo) software.
Now that I've weaned myself from Rescue and Recover, Access Connections, Client Security, I'm happier.
I still like System Update to at least browse the recommended Lenovo updates. I like the power management and the wireless on and off functions. That's about it.
I find that Vista manages my wireless connections as well or better than Access Connections these days. Then there's the "logmon.exe" stuff that just gets annoying.
