I guess going to the wide LCD format is the reason that we no longer see the 14 inch p model has the same powerful video card as the 15" model. Now they even won't make 14" W series.

No 14" W series?
I am kinda disappointed. I own a 14" T61p. Its video card is not as fast as the 15" T61p, but at least faster than the one in T61.

Yeah, it seems to be the case that all the laptop manufacturers are leaving the 4:3 business.
I see no benefits for average consumers to have a wide screen LCD other than when you're watching DVDs, but how many DVDs are you going to watch on the 14-15" laptop screens when you can simply watch them on your 40-60" HDTV? Most of the videos that I watch on my laptop from are Youtube, which are all 4:3 format. On the other hand, it is really not that much a fun to scrolling up/down constantly when browsing web pages and reading PDF files on a wide screen.
Considering the T/W series is supposed to be a business model, it is really pointless to dump the 4:3 format, although to the manufacturers a 15" wide screen costs less than the 4:3 one.

I'm planning to buy a W500 next year with the WUXGA display, I'm getting accustomed to high res, right now using 1400x1050, I refuse to lose vertical height resolution, I will sacrifice portability, but would also get a X200/X300 with a SXGA+ display. I'm not getting those crap WXGA/WXGA+ displays

I agree xtr ! I'am in love with my T61p now that I change the crappy Samsung panel by a LG/Philips. WUXGA is great for 15.4" screen.

Yeah, the WUXGA is awesome. I only realized a few months ago that maximizing all my windows doesn't help me at all, since stuff ends up being centered or stretched uncomfortably far. Now I use the extra space on the side to browse the web, watch movies, and chat simultaneously, without sacrificing any space.

I saw my friend's 15" WUXGA T61p, and I admit its screen is better than my 14" 4:3 LCD. However the problem for me is that everyday I have to carry my laptop in the back pack and walk 4 miles up/down hill between my office, the bus stations and my apartment ( east Germany sucks big time
) so portability is very important for me.
Unless Lenovo releases a 14" W series, I guess I'll keep my T61p.

Lenovo are being very stupid in fragmenting the T series core goals. Performance and portability. Not having a 14'' W Series or a 13'' T Series is so stupid and leaves me having to make decisions I would rather not upgrading from my T41p 14.1''.

It's got a less powerful graphics card than it's 15'' sibling, it doesn't have DisplayPort.wswartzendruber wrote:Sorry for the stupid question, but what's missing from the T400?
How come they can fit almost everything into the X300, a T300 should basically have been slightly thicker, larger battery, more powerful processor akin to T400 and T500 and a normal hard drive.
The T400 is a short change. You want the smaller size but you have to compromise to a stupid degree.
