T30 WiFi Driver issue

#1 Post by kluge » Mon Jan 25, 2010 7:15 am

I had a clean installation on my T30 with XP SP3. All things worked well but the WiFi that did not show up. I have a Yallow question mark on Network Controller on the hardware list on Device Manager.
Where can I find the right driver to set up correctly? The Lenovo Web seem to does not have any.

Thanks.

What's the (7) digit machine type/model from the sticker on the bottom of the machine? .e.g. 2347-3CU

2367-86G.
I run a test software and find out I have an ActionTec Mini PCI 802.11b+Modem Combo Card driver (Prism chip).
Any hints?

That machine did not come from the factory with WiFi -

Product: ThinkPad T30 2367-86G [change]
Operating system: All [change]

Original description: P4-M 2.0GHz (512KB), 256MB RAM, 40.0GB HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, 8x-3.3x DVD-ROM, Modem(CDC), Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

Is the ActionTec Mini PCI 802.11b+Modem Combo Card driver an IBM part ?

Harry, I found that most T30s don't list the wifi, even if included.
That Actiontec card is an official IBM part with FRU=12P3637 or the newer FRU=12P3657, I have both.

Dom. Is that Actiontec aka the Cisco Aironet 350?

EDIT:

Just found out they are not the same  I had an Actiontec card about two months ago but do not remember where I got the driver from! I do know that I did not use it b/c our WPA-PSK network here at home would not work with that card. I've gone back and looked through my Ubuntu forums also and it also did not work for me in Ubuntu Jaunty.

@emeraldgirl: Nope, they are different as you already found out.

@kluge: The driver for it is here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-42480
