Hi,
i recently got a broken T30 (2366-qg7).
Seems that motherboard is busted. Local spare part seller has a motherboard for T30, but he said that it is for "SXGA model" and
my T30 has XGA display in it.
I was wondering can i still put that motherboard to my computer and expect that i can hook it up to XGA display, or is there really two different motherboards available regarding what display your T30 has?
Thanks in advance.

Re: T30. Motherboard and display compatibility
Welcome to the forum.
Product: ThinkPad T30 2366-QG7 [change]
Operating system: All [change]
Original description: Based on 2366-83G: P4-M 1.8GHz (512KB), 256MB RAM, 40.0GB HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 8x-3.3x DVD-ROM, Modem(CDC), Ethernet(LOM), Li-Ion battery, Win2000
All motherboards for the T30 will fit, and work with both XGA and SXGA+ LCDs.
If you take the wifi/modem cover off, you'll see some white plastic. On it should be the part number of the motherboard.
While you have it open there, do you see 2 thin cables there? (these would be for wifi).
Choice of regular mobo: 26P8205, 26P8328 or Assembly 2 mobo: 91P7211, 91P7212 (Assy 2 mobos require a different fan).
The 26P8205 (a.k.a. 91P7689 and 30L3057) is the one that should be in your laptop now.
Check the part number of that spare board first before you buy. Let us know if you need help.
What are the problems with your current board?
Unless you made a mistake in the Type/Model (or the previous owner exchanged it), your own machine originally came with SXGA+ (see above).
Download the HMM: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-42308
It will help you take your T30 apart and put together again.
The inverter for both is the same, but XGA takes a different LCD cable from SXGA+.

Re: T30. Motherboard and display compatibility
Mobo in my machine seems to be 26P8328. And yes, there is two thin cables under that cover.
And I think you are right about that display my machine has. Previous owner said that he newer had changed that display, so it is original. And I thought it has XGA just because i misinterpreted a table where all T30 models and displays were listed...so my bad.
Current mobo doesnt have any visible defects. But when i hit power key, i can hear fan running and hard drive tries to start up (hard drive makes some strange ticking sound, but it is healthy, tried in other machine) but nothing else happens, cant see anything on display.
I have tried pretty much every solution i could find from internet and nothing works.

Re: T30. Motherboard and display compatibility
You can use either 26P8205 or 26P8328. The latter has a security chip, the first one doesn't, that's the only difference.
Take out all removable hardware: RAM, hard disk, optical disk, wifi card, modem, main battery.
Now try to start. If the mobo is still in working condition, it should beep 1-3-3-1.
If not, you need to get a new motherboard.
