How do I get my XP login/shutdown screens back?

#1 Post by Bookworm » Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:55 pm

I installed a non-Microsoft application published in 1997. Oops.

System restore cleaned up most of the mess, but I'm still stuck with a "classic" style login box instead of the fancy XP login screen where each user has an icon; and a "classic" menu style shut down box instead of XP's icon style box.

How do I get these back to XP style?

If you go into the users accounts you can turn the welcome screen on or off. When it's off you get the classic log in box.

I just went into user accounts and searched for some kind of check box or menu option to turn the welcome screen on, and there isn't one. Could you be more specific than "in User Accounts"?
