Slim Tip Adapter?

#1 Post by Shelby Griggs » Sun Dec 28, 2014 8:49 pm

I have an older AC/DC Combo Adapter that had the interchangeable tips, unfortunately it predated the new slim tips. I see on amazon an adapter that might work http://www.amazon.com/POWER-ADAPTR-SLIM ... B00BOVO5GY

Does anybody know if this will work with a new T440? If so, what size is the input port? I think it is the 20V round tip, but that is only a guess.

I am hoping to keep my old AC/DC Combo Adapter in service as the new DC Adapters are slim tip only, no flexibility.

You can use a 'ThinkPad Slim Power Conversion Cable', IF it is a genuine/original/legitimate/official Lenovo part. Do not use anonymous/generic power delivery parts. Yes, ThinkPad Slim Power Conversion Cable has a 'big barrel advanced connector' inlet.
Model L01DC001-NB-R; Option Marketing number 0B47046; ASM 0A36037; FRU 03X6261; UPC 887263167790; EAN 0887263167790; JAN 4560421046101.

You can use a 'Lenovo Slim Power Tip for X1 Carbon' with your Combo Adapter. It is the new thin rectangle 'slim tip', as used in X1 Carbon, also your T440 and other models.
Marketing part number 0B47048; Replacement part number (FRU) 03X6262.

Can't see any reason why you couldn't use this El Cheapo adapter:

I've been using these Patuoxun adapters with no problems:

Haven't tested with a more-than-90W power supply yet but that shouldn't be an issue for a T440.

I have both the elcheapo slim tip converter with the cable, and the rather more expensive hard barrel adaptor, and I much perfer the elcheapo -the other one means you have a very long inflexible plug hanging out about 5-7cm out of the side of your thinkpad.
