After W10 upgrade scrolling does not work the way it did before
After W10 upgrade scrolling does not work the way it did before
I tried W10 on my Thinkpad X60s. Everything works normal (as far as I know now), except for scrolling. I used to scroll by means of the trackpoint while pressing the button in the middle (from the three on the palm rest). It does not work anymore. What can I do.
Re: After W10 upgrade scrolling does not work the way it did before
Since your ThinkPad is not officially supported by Windows 10 you may be out of luck for drivers that will enable old style scrolling with the trackpoint nub. Nobody is working on drivers for the X60. If there is nothing in the settings you can change to get this functionality back you may have to learn to use other scrolling methods if you want to stick with Windows 10.

Welkom Gooier!
Try and find any old(er) Synaptics Lenovo drivers, as well as from the likes of Toshiba, HP and others, e.g.:

Look also for Ultranav drivers.

Re: After W10 upgrade scrolling does not work the way it did before
There's an earlier thread about this issue. The solution is described in this post, and I'm merely paraphrasing it and the German language page it points to.
1. Download and install the latest Ultranav driver. As expected, the driver installation will fail because the X60 only has a Trackpoint and not an Ultranav (Trackpoint+touchpad).
2. However, the important part is that the driver itself has been unpacked to the default installation directory (It's C:\DRIVERS\WIN\UltraNav\WinWDF\x64 or similar for 64-bit Windows). Go to that folder, then run dpinst.exe.
3. Then Go to Device Manager, select the "PS/2 Trackpoint" devjce, the right-click and select Properties.
4. On the Properties window, click "Install Driver". Choose "Browse my computer for drivers" then either navigate to the driver installation directory, then select "Select from a List of drrivers in my computer".
5. Once the driver selection window opens, uncheck "Show Compatible Hardware", then select "Lenovo" from the Manufacturer column, then select "Synaptics pointing device", then click "Continue".
Windows will display a warning about the driver, ignore it and click "yes" or "OK".
6. Press Fn+F8 twice to disable and reenable the Trackpoint.
Take note that I haven't tried this for myself as I have no computer that has Win 10 installed.
