#1 Post by Whitieiii » Mon Mar 06, 2017 7:22 pm

does anybody have Osx 10.10 Yosemite on the x220? would love to install it on the x220 when I get an x230 but what is all needed? how is it? I got 4 macs so getting hold of a mac to make an install usb is easy and would like all basic functions to work like boot, touchpad/trackpoint, keyboard, wifi and sound but other than that I would like iMessage and facetime to work also.... suggestions?

I recently installed latest Sierra (10.12.5) on my X220.
Everything works perfectly. I even got the 3G modem to work.
The only investment (and good upgrade) was an AC wifi / BT4.0 mini PCIE card, because the original wifi and bluetooth are not supported.

Does not work:
- SD reader
- fingerprint scanner (I don't have one)

Ran Yosemite for ages on my X220, no problems at all part from the card reader not working.

You'll need to flash the BIOS to a non-whitelisted one and install a 3rd part Wi-Fi card. From memory I fitted a Dell DW1515 card which is recognised as an AirPort Extreme within the system profiler.

Sleep / resume / FaceTime / iMessage ( with a bit of work) / Appstore etc all works. All in all it was a very stable, reliable platform.

The SD reader does not work under MacOS.
