T420 bluetooth upgrade to 4.0
Hi, I would like to upgrade bluetooth on my t420 and I found this one.
https://www.amazon.com/Yz_too%C2%AENew- ... nkpad+t420
Do you think it will work? Will it work "plug and play", with no BIOS mod?

It should, but it's probably a lot cheaper e.g. here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183181833977
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Re: T420 bluetooth upgrade to 4.0
I installed that 4.0 board in my T420 (Win 8.1 Pro 64) to upgrade it from 3.0 and it was plug and play. The bluetooth board sits on the underside of the plastic palmrest bezel.
I also installed a 4.0 board in my T430 (Win 7 Pro 64) that didn't have any bluetooth and have yet to have the device recognized in the device manager or by any other speccy type software. Lenovo bluetooth software stops installing when it can't find a suitable device. Still troubleshooting that one...
EDIT: Got the bluetooth 4.0 card to work in my T430 by installing the "Lenovo hotkey features integration" software. Apparently the software turns power ON and OFF power to the bluetooth card. Without the software the bluetooth card is never on, and thereby not found by the device manager.
BTW, even though I didn't have any bluetooth board in my T430, the cable was already there scotch taped to the bezel. Like the bluetooth, there is also an unused cable for the fingerprint reader. A fingerprint reader board should fit, but there is no hole for the fingerprint scanner, that requires a different bezel, or some case modification.

Re: T420 bluetooth upgrade to 4.0
Hey Everyone, sorry for replying to such an old thread but i was looking to upgrade the bluetooth on my T420 to 4.0 and have a quick question.
So i found the (probably) correct board on eBay but it comes in two "Sizes" and I'm not sure which one i should get.
They are A2(FRU 60Y3305) and A1(FRU 60Y3303) also here's the eBay listing I'm looking at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/313523389998?ha ... Swwq9gh8Nb
Hope you guys can help me out!

Hey!
Did you find out which one worked?
I'm carefully assuming both FRU numbers work

Re: T420 bluetooth upgrade to 4.0
Quite a while ago, I bought such a part for my X220 from China via eBay, it was called "Thinkpad X220 X220T X230I X220I Bluetooth 4.0 Daughter Card 60Y3303 60Y3305". This worked fine using Bluetooth drivers from Lenovo.
Later I replaced the WLAN card with an Intel 7260ac, which had faster WiFi AC and built-in Bluetooth 4.0. A custom/unlocked BIOS is needed for the laptop to boot with a non-whitelisted card. IIRC I also had to tape pin 51 for BT to work (otherwise the BT controller wouldn't be visible to the OS). This worked fine using WiFi and Bluetooth drivers from Intel.
Most recently, I've installed an Intel AX210 (unofficial mPCIe version, bought on AliExpress) card which offers WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. This works great using Intel WiFi and Bluetooth drivers.
