On Linux you have logrotate to split your system logs so they don't take up too much space. 
Seriously, I have no experience but you have to decide if you want hydraulic that goes on tracktor or elecrical powered

I still like using the good old ax to split logs. I've also frequently used a log splitter and find they are efficient and fast for splitting volumes of log.

Got a manual hydraulic log splitter, so much better than using an axe. Think it cost around £150. Downside is that you are continually bending down and standing up.
