Linux Mint 19 / Thinkpad Carbon 3rd Gen - battery test?
I recently purchased a replacement battery for my ThinkPad Carbon Gen 3 running Linux MInt 19 from a reseller on eBay (claiming genuine/OEM). While the battery was advertised as new and power management/statistic utilities show it as having the proper capacity but it still seems to run down quickly, particularly when on standby (~10-12% per day when on standby).
Is there an active test I can run (on Linux) to determine if my battery is genuine/new?
I can get a diagnostic easily enough but what I'd be interested in is a test I can run myself to get a current benchmark for my battery.
The official Lenovo specs for my machine claimed 10-ish hrs of active usage (I know, way overblown) but I haven't been able to find anything for standby life. Were there benchmarks for standby released for this machine?
Thanks!!

Don't know about any such tests, but I have some questions.
With laptops booting up so quick nowadays, why waste valuable battery charge using stand-by?
Are those few seconds that you might save so important?

For me, battery life is so good in standby now-a-days, there is no need to fully shut it down.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 1:09 amDon't know about any such tests, but I have some questions.

10-12% per day is basically normal. Thats about the same I get on my Yoga.

Thanks for your responses. I wouldn't mind giving hibernation a shot but I can't figure out how to configure my current installation of Linux to support it.

I just got the Lenovo replacement battery I ordered about 6 weeks ago for my X1 Carbon 4th generation Windows 10. Back to 6 or 7 hours of run time and very little reduction when suspended. Make sure your power management drivers for Linux are all up to date. Otherwise, the battery may not have been a true Lenovo battery.

Why is my P1 Gen 7 so much better on battery? Cool, quiet, fast — but not on AC.
