Installed video driver for a31p on XP no luck
Installed video driver for a31p on XP no luck
after I Installed the video driver for my A31p running Xp. After install, under adapter type, it's now showing ATI mobility Radeon 7500. I can also now hit "stand by" on power menue options. so The video graphics driver is reading but not working. can't even watch a youtube video or watch dvd. Everything is still choppy. What is going wrong?
I downloaded driver from HERE: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds013750
Any help is much appreciated!! thanks!

So, shall I delete the ATI Radeon 7500 driver I installed, and then install omega drivers, or keep current non-working driver and install omega right along side it, i'm confused lolRealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 2:21 amGet some Omega drivers, like these: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/om ... 8-252.html

Try this

There was something wrong with your previous install since I can tell you that the video card shouldn't be "seen" as Radeon 7500.

That's What I used. Still saying "Radeon 7500" it's an A31P with an A31 motherboard in it. Isn't it the same Graphics Card tho!?ajkula66 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 10:17 pmTry this

No it's not. So I'm not surprised that the machine is unusable for the web.smf wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 11:33 amThat's What I used. Still saying "Radeon 7500" it's an A31P with an A31 motherboard in it. Isn't it the same Graphics Card tho!?ajkula66 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 10:17 pmTry this

Re: Installed video driver for a31p on XP no luck
What should I do about thins?
I mean the A31 and A31p Both take the same driver download so it must be similar hardware!
Re: Installed video driver for a31p on XP no luck
Well, giving up on the idea of using an A3x system for the web would be my recommendation.
Radeon 7500 found in A31 is a 16MB - possibly 32MB if the board is from one of the hi-end versions - while the FireGL 7800 in A31p is 64MB. Pretty significant difference.
Nevertheless, it's the CPU that is incapable of handling today's requirements. And there's nothing one can do about that.
These machines are antiques. As cool as they may be, using them as a daily driver mimics the concept of sitting behind the wheel of Ford Model T on today's highways. Not a pleasant experience.
Good luck.

Re: Installed video driver for a31p on XP no luck
For youtube, my A31p was not able to play anything, via XP or Linux. It choppy even with di.fm music streaming that I had to use a software music player. It still skipped some songs but it played 95% of them.
I don't think my T43p can play youtube in 480p without issues.
As far the DVD issues, perhaps there are some encodings that are missing on XP, which is giving you the choppy playback.
