X1E2 - CPU runs hotter when plugged in, Speed Shift changes but cannot change with Throttle Stop

#1 Post by DrixlRey » Sun Jan 26, 2020 5:54 pm

Well my laptop is plugged in my CPU temperature runs from 50 to 60°, this is on the lowest battery setting. When I unplug it it can go to as low as 43 to 47. This is with throttle stop undervolted. I noticed that Speed Shift runs at 178 when unplugged but 84 when plugged in. I try to set it to 178 but I noticed that sometimes it'll show up at it's 84 and when I open FIVR it's showing up as 84 a few seconds before switching to 178. Either way it's still runs warm when I do that.

Is this just how it works what settings can I change so that it uses the same power? Or is it just when it's using an adapter it just runs hotter for everyone can anyone test?

your question is very confusing... are you trying to force your X1 Extreme G2 to run cooler with reduced performance or are you trying to make it run warmer with better performance? it's very difficult to give a work-around/solution if your question isn't clear.

We run plain vanilla X1E1 (X1 Extreme 1st Gen), ie: just as it is, *no* Throttle Stop or anything like that.

Our X1E1 runs hot under load, but it can handle all our everyday computing chores without throttling.
Just saying...
