Cheap headset for conferencing
I have an x220, which has one jack for earphone and mic combination. Some times I need to use a close mic to avoid noise from the next room getting through. I also have a logitech s920 webcam, but again, it picks up room noise easily.
I thought my cellphone earbuds, which work well for phone calls would suit my purpose. I can hear well, but the mic does not output enough signal. Could it be the settings in the laptop are wrong, or just that the equipment does not match? Something small and light would be my preference. Are there any headsets specifically for thinkpads of this type available?

It's usually an issue with the settings. There are some settings, like Mic Boost, that may need to be adjusted.

I'd probably look into a USB headset. USB headset combines external audio card and the actual mic/headphones. Problem is the ones I know are good - Jabra - are expensive, especially now in times of working from home. I have no idea if there are any cheaper ones around and how good they are. Jabra are known to be good, but they cost comparable to half of X220 price I think.
X220, 2 *T520

Hi , have you checked logitech, as they are good with pc sound systems and webcams, they also have a good line of USB pc headsets with noise cancelling at reasonable prices. Just dont expect a JBL, Sennheiser or Sony sound quality. As atagunov said , perhaps not the best time to hunt headsets, webcams of sort , but i think Logitechs have a good quality & price balance. I have seen this one mentioned highly in some forums https://www.logitech.com/en-gb/product/ ... 90?crid=36
