Touchpad settings for Win10?

#1 Post by wrybread » Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:55 pm

Whoo hoo, I just got a shiny new-to-me W530 with the 1080p screen. Loving it. It's coming after a long line of T530's (I think I've gone through 3 of those at this point).

It came with Win10 installed, normally I use Win7 (and Linux Mint) but I figure since it's already here I'll give Win10 another chance.

One thing that keeps happening is the mouse cursor freezes. Nothing else is frozen, and for example pressing alt-tab cycles the windows. I *think* double tapping bottom right of the touchpad reliably unfreezes it, but it's still new enough that I'm not totally sure. There's a lot of settings in Mouse -> Touchpad, I'm wondering which optimizations people like?

Thanks for any tips.

Edited to add more symptoms:

- when frozen the touchpoint works fine

- I think if I do nothing it unfreezes...

You're taking about the ultranav settings, right? If so, it is a lot of settings indeed. If you're having issues with recognition maybe check the PalmCheck/accessibility settings, or the tap zones to see if one is set to do that. If you don't have the ultranav settings (control panel - mouse) then you can probably get them by downloading the driver from lenovo's website.

Yup, Ultranav settings.
If you're having issues with recognition
Is freezing a recognition issue?

And confirmed: if I just do nothing it starts responding again in a few seconds. The freezing is really frequent though, once every few minutes.

Aha, I think it was the palm detection setting. I disabled that and it hasn't happened since. Phew.

And so far I haven't gotten any accidental palm touches.
