R500 will Intel MB fit in ATI model 2735-W5Z?

Hi All,

My R500 is dead, I have been through all troubleshooting on this including replacing parts(anything that could be replaced incl. CPU), Cleaning, Draning capacitors.

IF it starts up and that is a big if, then I can go to bios(though it takes some time to get there), and after a few min. it will shut OFF again and this time only a month on the shelf will let it start again. I have followed photos in another thread to see if anything were dead and frankly can't see anything.

Did this model suffer from the same GPU silicon layer issues as the Nvidia T61? Mine has 09/11 as factory date.

I'm thinking its time for a new motherboard and found some, but need to know it they will fit, I have uploaded all photos of my model here:

As far as I can see they are identical in form and shape and ports, heatsink should still work.

Where do you get your motherboards for this model?

Will any other models motherboards fit in the R500?

I'm not ready to retire this one yet, I will slap Linux on it and let my GF use it for design.

The board will fit. As for the heatsink, you may want to put some insulation on the GPU copper plate-- it's to ensure that it doesn't make contact with system board components and cause a short-circuit.
