701C no beep / no post
Hello.
I have a 701c that is behaving strangely.
The machine was working properly. I was putting and removing the HDD to try to install the OS on another computer.
In one of these tests, the computer stopped working correctly.
When turned on it makes a long beep and then a short one. The screen does not turn on and nothing can be seen on it.
I disarmed all the equipment, put it back together and now it doesn't do anything, not even a beep.
Any suggestions?

Hello.
Ghostdog, thanks for responding.
I have some news.
After disassembling everything, cleaning the connectors and reassembling, now the machine turns on and shows a screen.
But I'm having problems that I didn't originally have.
It is giving me the following errors:
702 (System board failure)
1104 (serial port error)
611 (system board failure)
When executing the BIOS Diagnostic, the mother says OK, Ram OK, PCMCIA OK,
but it fails in Floppy Drive (I don't have one anyway), Modem, Infrared.
Any suggestions on what to check?
Is there a schematic for this machine?

Hi, just faced the same problem as you. Same error codes. Have you found a solution ?
Re: 701C no beep / no post
Interesting, haven't been turn on the machine for about a year. And got these error codes. Removed the memory module, turn on and no errors. Put the memory module back and no errors neither.

Even the silver or gold contacts on the RAM modules get a bit 'rusty' eventually.
This can easily be fixed with an eraser.
Gently rub the contacts on both sides till they 'shine'.
Remove any leftovers before you reinsert the modules again.

Hi.
No, I couldn't fix the problem. It's now stored in a box. I should try again.
I should also buy a docking station so I can test it more easily.
I see that yours is showing signs of life again.
Good luck with the restoration!
Re: 701C no beep / no post
if all easy fix does not work, I'd try to rework/replace PC87334VJG (U528, a big ic chip next to the battery connector) or check/replace any obvious corrosion around
