Computer going to boot menu

Hi all, I purchased a new to me ThinkPad X1 carbon. I bought it used and when I turn it on, it goes straight to the boot menu. I should have bought one from the store, but I didn’t have enough so I bought a used one. I looked on YouTube for suggestions could not figure out why I’m having this issue, I am not very computer savvy. I tried to do a hard restart and nothing I paid quite a bit for this one and I can’t even use it very disappointed so that’s why I am on here asking to please help. It is a blue screen that says boot menu underneath that it says PCI LAN: CL slot 00FE v0113
Any suggestions?

It looks like either there is no SSD, or the SSD is faulty/dead.

and let us know exactly what Type you have, because by now there are 12 Generations of X1 Carbon!

THINKPAD-X1-CARBON-6TH-GEN-TYPE-20KH-20KG (20KH002RUS). I forgot to mention it does have a code. It says zero 271 check date and time settings. I did change them to what is current.

Your laptop is better known as: X1C6.
From the same link as before, download the HMM.
Go to Chapter 8.
Switch the laptop off, remove the charger, leave the battery in.
Remove the base cover (1010)
to check if there is an SSD (1020).
If not, there is your problem.
If there is, remove the SSD, try to boot from battery.
Do you get a different boot menu?
If so, switch off, put the SSD back in, try to boot.
What happens now?

Before opening up the laptop, one can first go into the BIOS and see if the SSD is detected there.

I could not find anything that says SSD in the bios so I went ahead took the cover off and I think you guys found my problem. There’s no SSD card in that slot. I’m assuming that is the hard drive? Do you think it would be cheaper just to buy a different laptop? I like this one the lightweight, small compact super nice.

Yup, SSD is an improved HDD.

On whatever used computer you buy, you should always install a fresh Operating System like Windows or Linux.

Thanks, do you know if that has windows on it? Not sure even if that’s possible

None of those have an OS on it.
Go here, enter your serial number and select the OS you need.
Find someone who can do the installation for you, if you don't know how to do it yourself.

Most Windows laptops since Windows 8 have the installation key coded into the BIOS, so all you need to do is install it via a disc or USB flash drive and it will be activated. You can download Windows 10 from Microsoft.
