Touchpad cursor momentum/inertia on Windows 11?

#1 Post by nofish » Wed Dec 11, 2024 3:26 pm

(Note: This is not about scrolling inertia, but mouse cursor inertia i.e. when moving the cursor via the mouse pad then lifting the finger it continues to move by itself.)
On my T420 running Win 10 I can see a dedicated Synaptics tab in Mouse Properties where I can set momentum/inertia for the mouse cursor (see picture below).
On my L14 running Win 11 I don't see this tab although having the Synaptics driver installed.
In Windows touchpad settings I can't see an option for it either.
Anyone have mouse inertia working on Win11?

I don't do W10 or W11, but how about installing the W10 driver on the L14?
But from what I read or hear, maybe you should dump W11 and install W10 on the L14?

Why?
It's L14 Gen5 btw, so quite recent.

Good-Windows 7
Crap- Windows 8
Good-Windows 10
Crap- Windows 11
And when I say Crap I am extremely polite...

PS: funny that this applies to every second Micro$haft version.

Now can we get back to the original topic please?

I say - compare the driver versions. But there are too many differences between your machines. The drivers may not be compatible.

I can check how it looks on my various Thinkpads later on.

Thanks.
Tried that already, with the Synaptics W10 driver installed on W11, when trying to open mouse settings I get this unfortunately.
If someone has an idea how to get this working, I'm all ears. :)

edit:
Btw. in case someone wondering what I'm talking about, here it's described pretty well, quite useful feature imo:
https://github.com/evilC/RollMouse
I miss this feature from my pre Win11 installs a lot.
If I don't get it to work natively I'll probably resort to that AHK script.
